  1. The argumentative essay is a genre of writing that requires the student to investigate a topic; collect, generate, and evaluate evidence; and establish a position on the topic in a concise manner. It is commonly assigned as a capstone or final project in first year writing or advanced composition course and involves lengthy, detailed research. Argumentative essay should have a clear, concise, and defined thesis statement that occurs in the first paragraph of the essay. It also should have a clear and logical transitions between the introduction, body, and conclusion. Body paragraph should include evidential support. Argumentative essay usually is a five-paragraph essay. I choose the topic" All Minnesota K-12 public schools should adopt a school uniform policy because I think uniform policy is good for students who are in K-12 schools. Uniform can make students more united, and they cannot compare with students who are rich. Everyone is equal. Today I wrote an essay about if government should spend too much money on exploring outer space. I also get my score of my descriptive essay. I will work harder and get more progress.

    1. I agree, uniforms have a sense of unity and puts less pressure on kids at school.

    2. In a sense though uniforms do make it a more unified experience but no matter the clothing individuals of different social standing will always stand out due to their excessive amount of electronics etc.

    3. I agree, I also think that having uniforms are more proper looking.

    4. Uniforms do make students look more unified.

    5. Unity is a nice thought, but I believe the argument should not be limited to that. There has to be other meaningful aspects that could further support the idea of adopting a uniform code.

  2. An Argumentive Essay is a written essay designed through the process of research, discussion and persuasion. The objective of an Argumentive essay is to persuade the audience in order to attract them towards the topic of your prompt. In other words, as you write an Argumentive essay, you must convey your readers to see your point of view by reaching all areas of your argument through mass research and discussion.
Therefore, out of all the prompts given, I have chosen the topic discussing the rights of mothers and fathers within court decisions. I feel that this prompt would allow me to go in depth with my research and create good arguments for my readers.
To conclude on today's class discussions I found the in-class writing exam to be very sufficient for the preparation of creating our final exams in the future. This will only increase our capability of creating thorough and concise papers with less hardships further within the course.

    4. I think the in class essay was pretty hard, but it was really sufficient. In the end i know it'll really help us.

    5. I found this particular essay as exceptionally fruitful. First, because it was very challenging to think about. Not everyday do you think about space travel opportunities. Second, the use of the writing process really helped me get through it. Third, I actually finished it! I rarely finish on the spot essays.

  3. An argumentative essay is an essay that, with intense research and factual information, persuades and informs the audience. It is the writer's intent to include and understand enough concrete research to change or encourage the audience's perspective and thoughts on a specific topic.
Of the listed prompts, I'm towards writing my argumentative essay on "drivers nationwide should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving." I agree with this prompt and think that I will have little to no difficulty when writing this essay. I also think that this is an important topic to be discussed considering many have suffered or have known/know people who have suffered from texting/calling while driving.
The in class activity was quite difficult for me because I'm terrible at writing when I'm put under pressure and I was unprepared. However, I'm sure these writing activities will help me improve my writing skills.

    4. I would recommend having a strategy plan with the time used. Divide enough time to brainstorm, write, and briefly recheck.

  4. An argumentative essay, also called a persuasive essay is a kind of writing that gives information through research and presents an argument. The writer must do surveys, search for facts, and look for evidence in order to prove what they are writing about. An argumentative essay is done to persuade the readers with what the writers want them to believe or to make the readers see things from the writer’s own perspective. The topic I would choose is “We should develop some sort [what sort?] of internet censorship. Not all free expression is protected by the First Amendment.” I chose this topic because I know that this is very important. It’s what the generation today needs. I also think that I can use good examples and research on a lot of things to prove this topic.
Today’s activity was challenging. I wasn’t really prepared on writing an essay on the spot today, but I’m glad that I finished it on time. I know that these kinds of activities will be very helpful to me in the future.

    2. I agree, today's activity was actually challenging. But i feel like it'll help us more in the future.

    3. Internet censorship is indeed a very complicated and controversial topic today. I have always seen and heard the reasoning from censorship opponents, but not so much from the proponents.

    4. I agree, I believe the in class essays will benefit us.

  5. An argumentative essay is an essay in which you lay out hard facts and truth behind a subject matter that develops the subject and pushes forth why you believe in such said subject. It is in such a way to enforce your subject to convey to others your opinion on the subject with facts retaining to your opinion and why it stands behind it. for my topic i would choose to pick the usage of deathrow inmates as test subjects for medical reasons instead of animals because it would reveal the effects on humans without having to go through a trial phase with humans after finding hope within a successful animal trial.

  6. An argumentative essay requires the writer to really go over facts that is based on what they are writing about. The facts has to be concise so that the writer can have strong opinions to go with it. They must have good evidence to back up their essay, that way their work can really come off strong when their reader is going over it. An argumentative essay just generally requires intensive research.
The topic that i would most certainly write about would be, Driver should not be permitted to use their cellphones while driving. Whether it be talking or texting. I think this is a really good topic to write about because there has been so much incidents about it that it has got to stop. I find writing in class essays to be a little harder because i can't really do further research about it. But i think it really prepares us, to just think in the moment whenever we need to write on the spot essays.

    1. Oh yes, drivers with cellphones are a terrible problem here in Guam. You should use local information as support.

    2. I agree with Niel, it is a terrible issue both here and in the mainland.

  7. An argumentative essay is an essential component to scholarly work. In any form of idea, there has to some support to make this idea credible. Knowledge is fallible, so reliable and coherent support is essential. The essential goal is to prove a point effectively and coherently. I would try the essay about misdiagnosing ADHD and prescripting Ritalin.

The essay we worked on was a very challenging, especially when preparing on what to write. However, I found the use of the writing process very helpful in my endeavors. I feel that there is really some progress in my writing capabilities.
