  1. An argumentative essay is researching a topic to your fullest extent and discussing your topic in a reasoning and resourceful manner. From the topics listed I chose The classroom size of grades K through 5 statewide should be set at a maximum of 20 students. I will be on the opposing side to this topic.I believe a larger classroom filled with 20 children will be difficult to control and to teach at the same time. However, with much less kids in a classroom, we can enforce a much greater impact for kids willing to learn.

    1. I agree with you. Less students in a classroom is easier to control for teachers, and students get more opportunities to ask questions to teachers.

    2. I think that 20 children or students in a class is less than the average number of students per class. I agree less people in a class is good for teachers and students because teachers and students can have more opportunities to teach and learn.

    3. I've always wanted to become a teacher and just the thought of me handling more than 20 students in a classroom would be so exhausting. Good topic as well.

    4. i agree that it is difficult to teach with more than 20 students, i don't understand how a teacher can teach 30-50 students, especially in college.

  2. I would have to disagree with you and agree with setting the max class size to 20 students. The average students per class in the united states can reach upwards of 48 students per teacher. I also believe this would bring about a higher demand for teachers.

    1. one teacher with forty-eight students? some teachers i had back in high school could hardly handle 6 students. i once had a teacher that had no control of the class at all.

    2. yea. i disagree. i think more than 20 is too much to handle for a teacher. he would not have the ability to help every single one of them if needed.

  3. An argumentative essay is where you chooses a topic and research and collect data. This also means you have to establish a position and persuade others to your line of thinking. This essay requires you to learn in-depth about a subject and evaluate evidence to generate an argument. The topic I would probably expand on would be drivers in the state of Minnesota who are over 70 years old must pass an annual test for eyesight and physical ability before they can renew their driver’s licenses. I agree with that and would even expand on it to that everyone that is to renew their licenses needs to show proficiency in their driving skills. Driving is very dangerous and I think that the accent rate would go down if this were regulated more.

    1. I like your idea that everyone needs to show proficiency in their driving skills before they renew their driver's licenses.

    2. I also agree with that drivers in the state of Minnesota who are over 70 years old must pas an annual test for eyesight and physical ability before they can renew their drivers licenses. Some people might think that it is discrimination, but it is important to prevent accidents caused by seniors. This law or bill is for both, seniors and people around them, to provide the safety. This should be applies to all states.

    3. I agree with you. Driving is a privilege, not a right. So you should be tested on eyesight, hearing and ability to drive. Being on the road can dangerous for you and for others as well.

  4. An argumentative essay is an essay that requires me to investigate my topic and collect data that proves my topic. From the list, I chose the topic, We should initiate a national health insurance program in the United State and model the program on successful ones used in Europe or Canada, because this country's insurance system is not as good as other advanced nations. There is also a good national health insurance in Japan. Nations need to pay 70% of their medical expenses when they go to doctors. Seniors need to pay only 10% of their expenses. There are still so many supports for nations to consult doctors. I would like to talk about this some other days.

    1. I like the health insurance program in Japan. However, I think that the program should cover more for young people.

    2. I agree with you. I don't really know much about health insurance, except that its important to have, but expensive as well.

    3. Health insurance is a good topic. It's very important to have it.

    4. i think that would be a great topic to write about. cannot wait to read it.

  5. Argumentative essay requires us to investigate and determine a topic by collecting information and evaluating evidence. Among the topics listed, I chose Drivers in the state of Minnesota who are over 70 years old must pass an annual test for eyesight and physical ability before they can renew their driver's license. The reason why I selected this topic is I really agree with this and also this is easy to investigate. It is obvious that old people cannot act like young people. To drive a car, we need to be good condition to avoid an accident.

    1. I agree with that topic too. People who are not efficient to drive a car should not drive a car. Some accidents can be prevented in advance by this kind of law like the idea mentioned above.

      Delete
    2. I agree with your topic. Elderly drivers can be hazardous on the road. Whether you are able to see and hear, you need to be able to drive on the road. Having a sharp intention span, always aware, and also following the rules of the road.

    3. i too agree with your topic.

  6. An argumentative essay is an essay that would require investigation for the topic. The essay always needs to have evidence in order to prove the thesis statement. The topic I chose from the list is drivers in MN or nationwide should not be permitted to use cellphones while driving. I would agree with it; texting while driving will distract the driver instead of focusing on the road. This would cause car accidents, and this would also put other people in danger.

    1. I agree with you to the fullest extent.

    2. I never use cellphone while driving because I do not want to hurt or kill someone.

    3. I agree with that drivers in nationwide should not be permitted to use cellphones while driving. Using cellphones while driving can cause accidents. But, some people still use cellphones while driving even though there is such a law prohibits the use of cellphone.

      Delete
    4. I agree with you. There has been enough car accidents, that should not even happened in the first place. I also believe that there are enough evidence to support this topic. They even made several car accident commercials for crying out loud.

    5. Too many people die because of texting/calling while driving. So I agree with you on this.

      Delete
    6. i think people on a cell phone cause more accidents than drunk people these days.

      Delete
    7. The law banning phone calls or messages while driving should have been nationwide. It is dangerous and it is not worth risking your life.

      Delete
    8. I completely agree with you. It seems like every day that I drive to or from school I see at least three people on their cell phones. They need to pay attention to the road not texting.

  7. An argumentative essay is where you pick a topic and collect data that can help you prove your topic. You also have to collect valid information to help support your topic. The topic I chose is "Drivers should not be permitted to use cellphones while driving." This topic caught my eye because I know that things can happen in an instant. Just one glimpse off the road can cause an accident, injury, and even death. When driving, you have to be focused and not distracted by anything else.

    1. I've heard story all too well, and one too many. Teen was texting and driving, and ends up ramming into a family van, possible ending the lives of young ones. Although, in case I need to make or take a call I wait until I get to a stop-light and place the phone on speaker.

    2. I agree with your topic. I think that, this is an easy topic that you can discuss about and you will most likely win.

  8. When writing an argumentative essay you must first chose a topic and then be able to accumulate credible data and evidence to support your argument. The topic I chose is “We should develop some sort [what sort?] of internet censorship. Not all free expression is protected by the First Amendment.” I chose this topic because it is a controversial one. I believe there should be an “anti terrorist” Internet censorship. Anyone or anything potentially threatening to the Untied States Of America and its values should be exempt from the First Amendment. All necessary measurements and precautions must be taken to protect our country and it’s beliefs even if that means an invasion of privacy.

    1. I do believe that the Amendments need to be reviewed and revised at least once every 50 years, along emergency revisions in accordance to a mass-population situation. The Amendments were made for a time in which mail was still transported by equestrian means, but the amendments today don't do much in regards to annoying paparazzis.

      Delete
    2. I agree that they should revise the amendments because things do change. They are just trying to protect our country and the people's rights, but we should have a censorship with countries we are not on good terms with if it is not like that already. Although, other countries may have people just as smart as or smarter than the people who secure the internet.

  9. An argumentative essay is a genre of writing that requires the students to investigate a topic by collecting information, generating, and evaluate the evidence. Argumentative essays also require empirical research where students collect data through interviews, surveys, observation, or experiments. The essay must establish a clear thesis and follow sound reasoning. From the any topics I've chosen Fathers should be allowed the same treatment as mothers in family court decisions. Too many times the mother is favored because of the "nurturing" stereotype. I agree because there are many fathers out there living without their children because of court orders and most of them don't deserve that.

    1. I'll agree with your topic based on some of the news I've read. There's one about a deployed sailor who was going to be arrested because his ex-wife persuaded some power-hungry, incompetent judge to revisit a custody case over their biological daughter. Child-Services gave the sailor custody and his wife/girlfriend (unsure) was granted the legal status to watch over the kid. There's a whole lot more being left out of this, but you can read up on it online.

    2. i would like to read this essay to see a perspective of how a mom/dad should be nurturing a child.

      Delete
    3. I agree that father's should have the same treatment. If this topic would refer to child custody from the word "nurturing," I would say determine who's in the best shape of being a parent and also have the child influence the decision by picking who they will be with.

  10. Argumentative/Persuasive Essay. Something that happens all too well in the UK when trying to settle a problem between two parties or single conscience forwarding a matter they problematic. Also..... still confused on where everyone is getting their topics from. I'm going to need a reminder at the next class we have in person.

Take note: I thought today was the 6th, and so I made some RC-cake and brought for naught as today was a moodle session. Gonna have to make another one for Monday.

  13. An argumentative essay requires all available evidence supporting your main topic. When researching your topic, make sure that the information you find is accurate and current. Also note that in the conclusion, new evidence shouldn't be suggested.

  14. The root word of Argumentative is argue and it is pretty much the purpose of writing an argumentative essay. Mainly the goal is to explore all perspectives on a topic, in result supporting a side and using statistics to back up their claims. In order to do so, this essay requires a multitude of research from oral accounts, written texts even videos on youtube, etc. It's so, that from what ever point you are arguing from, you are able to persuade the audience to be convinced that what you are stating is believe able. I have decided to write my argumentative paper on home schooling and how it provides an exceptional education although I also advocate that every child/ teen should attend two years of public schooling before graduating high school.

  16. An argumentative essay is an essay that requires a student to explore a topic. They must collect and assess evidence. There are pros and cons to an argument and you would need to provide evidence for them in your essay. The topic I chose is: The birth control pill is more dangerous than the medical community has led us to believe and should be removed [or restricted] from general consumption. The side I have sided with would be for it being removed. Lastly, the chapter we had to read was very informing.

  17. An argumentative essay is where you discuss a topic. You would use evidence about the topic. There is a difference between an expository and an argumentative essay. The expository essay is where you don’t really go into detail about your explanation. But argumentative essay, you need to research and have evidence to back up your topic. I did not find any interest in any of the topics that were provided for us, but I found a topic that I think I would like to write about. The topic I chose is called “Should gay couples be able to marry?” I think that this would be easy to write about because I see a lot about this topic on the news and online. So I think if I did a little more research it would be a great topic for an argumentative essay.

  18. An argumentative essay requires informative research on a topic to prove a point. It has the same qualities of an expository essay; however, argumentative essays are lengthier. The topic I would choose is “ Drivers on Guam who are over the age of 70 years old must pass an annual test for eyesight and physical ability before they can renew their driver’s license” first of all because safety on the road is the most important.

  19. An argumentative essay is an essay that requires the writer to look into and investigate the topic. It allows the writer to generate, collect, and evaluate evidence. The topic that I chose from the list is “All Minnesota K - 12 public schools should adopt a school uniform policy.” When I was going to school I hated wearing uniform every day, but it made it easier for me to get ready in the morning. On the other hand I did not have to worry about what I was going to wear the next day.

    1. I’m not sure that I can agree with you on your topic. I have never been to a school where a uniform is required, I believe that how you dress is part of your creativity.
