Reflection - Nov. 5 - Test #3 - Sec. 7
Discuss your thoughts on taking Test #3. Were you prepared for it? If so, what strategies did you use as part of your preparation? If you were not prepared for it, what will you do next time to ensure that you do well on the test? In addition, discuss your thoughts of today's activities.

Moving place to place is hard and its even harder on teens because just being a teenager is hard in general and the fact that i tried to point out is even though you move alot and it seems like the world is against you just to keep your head up stay busy and push through it because sometimes life will just make things better for you when you least expect it!!
ReplyDeleteThat is true I went through the same thing having to move almost every other year and it took its toll on me. New friends, new school it was really hard to do.
DeleteI know how it feels to move from place to place because my step dad was in the military so I knew what it felt like. It does seem like many eyes are on us when we are new in an area. It is good that you pushed through. It proves that you are strong at heart.

DeleteI agree with you that moving from place to place is hard because my family used to move a lot. But it was a good opportunity to meet new people.
DeleteI had a similar experience in my teen years because not only did I move from Guam, I moved multiple time when I was in California. That would mean new school and new friends.
DeleteI agree with you. I moved a lot before I came here. It was hard, but I learned so many things from changing places to live.
Deletei went through the same thing just a year ago. I moved here from the states. Yes it was hard because all my family i grew up with lived there. But its ok. new people new life.

DeleteI feel like that I was not as prepared for this test. I felt like each test we are getting less and less time then the previous test. Some of the strategies that I used were the stage one and two of the writing process. I enjoyed hearing what all of my classmates wrote about for their expository essay.

DeleteI feel the same about the essays getting easier and easier each time. I struggle less going through each process.
DeleteI was not prepared as well. We can fix our mistakes next time. It was also interesting listening to other peer's essay. I had lots of interest in what everyone had to say.

DeleteI feel the days are going by fast and the semester is going to end soon. I hope all these essays prepare us to write a good essay for the final exam.
DeleteWhen working on your topic, it makes me forget about the other topics for the essay, but it is nice to hear it from my classmates.
Deletei really enjoy using the stages for my essay. they help me come up of what to write about if ever i am stuck while writing my essay. same here i did my last minute again, so i feel that i was not prepared.
DeleteI was not prepared, too because Expository essay was quit different from Descriptive essay and Narrative essay.
DeleteTaking test #3 was a bit more interesting than the past essays we have done because it involved some research. While doing research on my topic which was why teens wear make-up I learned that the use of cosmetics from the 20th century and how much it changed up to today. I enjoyed learning about it because I am a fan of make-up and believe everyone should see it in more positive way. I felt well prepared for this essay and was well prepared. Sharing our topics on our essays is always interesting because we get to hear about the different things everyone decided to write about.

DeleteIt was interesting for me too because I had to research about my topic. My topic was about cats. I feel like I know more things about cats.
Deletei really liked Test #3 because i have always wanted to write about someone that i admire. It was pretty easy for me to write this essay because i already knew what to write about and i already had a good flow in my head what i would want in my essay.
DeleteI was not prepared for this test. I felt like I did it wrong. At least I know what I did wrong and I can fix what I did wrong next time. Explaining why parents are strict was easy because I am straight forward with my mom and she explained why she was strict and I understood.
ReplyDeleteStrict parents make sneaky kids haha im sure you know that!! But i wasnt prepared for this one either and considering its the only essay i actually did for the exam i hope i did alright!! Keep it up!
DeleteI think that having strict parents is nothing new to any one. Parents are just protective and the things that the youth do now these days, it is no wonder why they are so strict.

Deletereviewing the meaning of the essay will help you in writing your essay because it refreshes your mind on what you need to write about.
DeleteHaving someone that you admire in your life is a great thing. They can change you in a positive way. I see that a lot of my classmates like cats. I am more of a dog person, but kudos to them. Remember to always smile, and that only you are responsible for the energy you bring towards people, so always be positive.

DeleteI agree that you can change in a positive way by having someone that you admire. I was also surprised that a lot of our classmates like cats. Positiveness is always great.
DeleteMy topic for this essay test was about cats. I learned more new things about cats through this essay because I had to research. By the way, I was prepared for this test because I started writing in advance. I even asked my manager to give me a day off for this test. I did not need to rush myself writing. I will also try to do the next test in advance, so I will not be rushing myself.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting for you to write about cats and it is great to see that you did your essay in advance. I keep saying that i would do my essay in advance, but I keep doing the opposite. I will try my best to do the next test as soon as possible.
DeleteI liked your topic. I like cats, but my mom does not want me to have one. Although, I have allergies when it comes to cats, but I love them anyway.
DeleteI was feeling rushed when I writing my rough draft, but it turned out to be stress getting into my system. The animal topic, I prefer dogs, for they are called man's best friend.
DeleteI would like to say I am a dog person, but I am an animal lover no matter what species. I will also try to set aside more time in order to complete this upcoming test.

DeleteI had a good amount of time to write my essay. Although I just did wrote last night, I still felt that I wrote a good essay. Some strategies I used was asking college students attending UOG for information for my essay. Today's activities were the same as usual. I heard interesting topics.

DeleteI felt prepared for the test, but writing the rough draft felt so stressful. I am really glad I got stress out of my system. My strategy was not repeating the same mistakes from before. Today's activity was pretty good, the stress is out of my system. I think I was the only one who picked the topic: Explain how music affects your life.
ReplyDeleteI feel that rough drafts are hard to write as well, starting an essay is always tough but once your on a roll it gets easier.

DeleteAs each test or essay goes by I feel like the first draft gets easier. I guess that the saying “practice makes progress” is true.
DeleteI did test 3 at the very last minute. It was difficult for me to pick a topic to write about, but since I only had one day to write about something I decided to write about health. Being that I am a health science major, It was not too hard writing about health benefits. If I would have decided to write about health earlier maybe I could have done better, so I was not very prepared for test 3.

DeleteI also did test #3 last minute. Once you get the hang of writing essays, it will be a breeze writing test #4.
DeleteI needed to review what Expository essay was about. I could write the essay smoothly after reviewing. Outlining helped me support my thesis a lot. I felt that Expository essay was quite different from Descriptive essay and Narrative essay. It was a little bit hard to write an essay for me. I learned how to support my idea in an effective way.
ReplyDeleteClustering really helps for me because I understand it more when I map out my topic. Also, from the bubbles you create, you can easily create sentences.
DeleteI think clustering might help you out. Clustering really helps you get all your ideas out on paper.

DeleteSeriously. I agree. I had no idea who an expository essay was. It helps when you do research and understand your topic first. Also make a cluster.
DeleteTest 3 was the only time I actually did a cluster, I mostly do free writing and outlining, but yeah try something new would not hurt.
DeleteI was not ready for this test...again. Even though I wasn't ready for this test, I felt like it was still easier to write about because I know my topic from experience. Like I said last time, I'm going to start my paper earlier in order to prepare for the next test. This test was a little harder than the last ones because citing can be complicated.

DeleteI guess you can say I was kind of ready for test #3. It came really fast this time and next thing I knew, it was due the next day. I started procrastinating and saying I will do it tomorrow, I will do it tomorrow. Now I know for sure I will not procrastinate anymore. Laugh out loud, I know for sure I will start test #4 as soon as possible and I will not wait last minute to do it. I just hope this time I finally reach above a 91% on my test #3.

Deleteremember to not procrastinate and your essays will be written better with more detail and time put into it. but some people are just good at writing essays the night before.. just like me.
DeleteDon't procrastinate at all. But if your major is engineering then procrastinate as much as you can. It's good practice.
DeleteI felt that I was prepared for test three because personal experience helped me with details. using the facts and info from the internet also helped with adding to the essay.Today's activities were good i thought that everyone has good topics to present.

DeleteWe all get better over time. Except for me, which I felt my essay was shorter than the most because of the topic.
DeleteI was prepared for this test. Since last test I mentioned that it sneaked up on me, but I was ready for it this time. Strategies I used was to plan ahead of time and clear your schedule of anything. Today was fun, we should do it more often.

DeleteI'd rather have a general class discussion about a general topic, then make a general essay, then generally turn it in on a general day.
DeleteI think I was more prepared for test 3 than I was with the descriptive essay. This essay was more interesting because I did a lot of research. Suicide is never the answer. It's a permanent solution for a temporary problem. If anyone you know are having suicidal thoughts, reach out because sometimes that's all they need. This topic was pretty easy for me to talk about because it's a huge problem in our society. I think I should start on my essay a little earlier just so I can get it peer reviewed faster and the earlier it can be done.

DeleteSome people will fail to notice the whole "suicide is never the answer" portion because sometimes it's an inescapable disorder. Depression is a key factor, where some people just feel a great sadness despite having almost everything in the world. One such suicide is Robin Williams. Poor fellow.
Delete3rd Essay for the semester turned in. My topic was about an admired person, the subject of the topic being Stephen Fry. I still can't quite grasp the whole thesis thing just yet, hopefully I'll learn it well for the final essay. Everyone prepare yourselves for the argumentative essay.
ReplyDeleteI always tell myself that I will prepare myself better for the next test. I always say that I am not going to procrastinate for the next one, yet I end up doing so. Test #3 was definitely a wake up call. I don't like writing essays on paper and in class, I just blank out. I think it's so much easier to prepare beforehand, and I really need to start doing so. I really, really need to learn how to manage my time better and not take this class for granted.
