  1. A narrative essay is more like telling a story in your own perspective. The way you see or hear things describing a story. When writing your essay it should be clear and should include all the parts of a story. From the topics listed i chose; my first day on the job. This technically isn't a real job, but more of an internship. However, to me it counts as my first job because I got paid in grade credits and I got the same treatment just like the rest of my co-workers. I was working at a medical center for my high school nursing class. To get some type of early experience as a nurse. Although I had terrible work hours, I had enough time to work with patients and experience the health workforce. My first day at work was on a Saturday, so it was packed full of patients. I showed up to work eager and willing to work. My first patient was a young boy who had the flu. I performed the daily routine, from blood pressure, to respiration, pulse and next was oral temperature. I had the thermostat ready to go and now was just the patient. I knelled in front of him and as he was about to open his mouth, he sneezed on me! All of his germs went to my face. I couldn't run to the bathroom, couldn't scold him or even walk out of the building. I had to his germs off me and pretend everything was okay. It was an awful experience that I had to deal with on the first day of the job.

  2. The topic list, I will choose the 19th, "Your first visit to the country(or to a large city). I will write about my first visit to Seoul, Korea. I think that is my memorable experience. I travelled Seoul to visit my friends who goes to college in Korea this May. She took me to visit some travel hot-spot such as Myeong-Dong, the Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gangnam, which are almost shopping areas, and then we ate some Korean food, Kimchi soup, Kimbab and Korean BBQ, which are really spice but delicious. The next day, we visited three universities, Hongik University, Ewha University and Sungkyunkwan University. The students of these universities are very artistic, and they can draw the passerby quickly. I think it is quite meaningful experience for me because it is my first time to visit Seoul.
I learned a lot from today's class. The stage three of the writing process, writing the first draft and revising. Before I write an essay, I am able to organize the information and write the draft.

  3. A Narrative essay talks your personal experience from your point of view. It's like telling an actually story only it's about yourself. You should be clear of what you are talking about and be sure to leave nothing out of your story. The topic I choose was; A vacation from my childhood. This was my second or third vacation off-island from Guam.
The place I was headed to was Australia. It was filled with amazing plains, jungles, buildings, animals, etc. The first place I got to check out were the waterfalls. The only way we could check it out is to take a train ride in front of it. It took an hour to reach the waterfalls, but it was worth the wait. The stream of water going down was incredible. I couldn't tell how far the water was going. Probably hundred feet the size of one of the hotels I've seen around Australia. Next we went to go visit the animals within the jungles and the zoo. The first animal I got to see was the Kangaroos. They were very friendly creatures as long as you didn't provoke them in anyway then you're safe. They do anything to protect there baby Kangaroo(s). The best part about being with the Kangaroos was I got to be in there pouches! It was awesome fitting inside it. It felt as if I was in a motor cycle jumping up and down. Lastly I got to go to one of the resorts far off from the beaches. We had to ride a boat to reach the place. It was also my first time riding inside a boat. It felt very breezy and wet as we rode along the ocean. As we rode me and saw the resort. It was fantastic! They had drinks, swimming pools, games, pool, etc. All these things I wanted to do. It was pretty good experience spending my time in Australia and hopefully I get to visit once again.
Today's lesson in class was interesting and I learned as much as I needed. The stage three of the writing process, writing the first draft and revising. I must contemplate on organizing my information before I begin my essay, but I'll get started on the draft.

  4. A narrative essay is a story that most commonly reveals a moral. Much like a descriptive essay, a narrative essay should include diction that aids the audience to empathize. 'A Memorable Journey' will be the topic I choose for my narrative essay because I traveled quite a lot when I was younger and have great memories. Within two years, at the age of six, my family and I moved from Guam to Las Vegas to Alaska then back to Guam. The long hours of traveling by both airplanes and cars has led to the best two years of my life. This journey is special to me and I believe that I could go on and on about it. Today's activities were fun. It's always a great time when we are able to discuss topics as a class. I'm really bad at writing essays on the spot, so when I was saved, I was really relieved. Also, brain stretcher exercises never fails to spark memories from my past!

    2. I'm not the best at writing essays either! But i'm glad that this class has been giving me some great ideas on how to begin essays and what other topics could be used.

    3. I'm bad at taking essays on the spot as well. That's what really killed me on the placement. I'm glad that Ms. Rivera gives us the take home option. I like to take my time and effort in m essays. If that is how you like to do essays, you should discuss about take home.

    4. Same, writing essays are never easy and when there's a time limit, I tend to get more anxious and not be able to focus properly. The essay brain stretcher is a great exercise which helps us in that area.

  5. A Narrative Essay is a story written from the writer’s point of view and personal experiences or it can also be from someone else’s personal experiences from either past or present. It’s just like telling a story. It should include detailed experiences like the people, specific places and events. I chose the topic about my memorable journey. I chose this topic because I want to share my family’s exciting vacation trip from east coast to west coast of America where we traveled from Washington D.C. to Oklahoma to California. It was a very memorable experience and bonding time for our family so I can very much express how I felt and what happened into writing with all the details. Today’s lesson was very helpful with writing. We learned about drafting and CLUESS. We also did some exercises, which was very fun. I also like every time we do the brain stretchers because it really helps me with my thinking.

  6. A narrative essay and a descriptive essay are two very alike types of writing. A narrative essay must be descriptive in order to convey the message or moral of the story. As a story is written, the author must be able to connect with the readers and inform them thoroughly, as if they were there or could see, feel, smell and touch the objects being described. A narrative essay is written through a person's point of view and or experiences. The topic I chose to write about would be my "First day at a new school". Also known as, my first day of freshman year. I chose to write about this experience because it was the first one to catch my eye. I saw the topic and immediately thought of my freshman year in high school in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition to writing this assignment, I found that today's activities was a great way of being able to practice for our actual Descriptive coming up soon. I enjoyed being able to write and listen to others' stories. I learned that there are many great writers within the class and I can agree with some of their essays. Today's class was overall exciting and new and I look forward to our next essay exercises.

  7. A narrative essay is a type of essay in which, you are telling a story based on experience. They could be about something anecdotal, your experience, or it could just simply be something personal. It’s a type of essay where your readers are reading a story. A narrative could be a series of experiences and stories that could make the paragraph considered as a narrative essay. Your essay should be clear, and concise in order for your reader to follow through.
If there would be one essay topic I’d choose, it would be “a vacation trip from my childhood”. I chose this topic because, I feel like I have so much to say about it. My experiences, how each happening all happened in order, and in a certain matter. As a think about this, I could really still imagine these few weeks and condense them down into an essay.
As for today’s discussion, I got to learn more about the stages of the writing process, and revising with “CLUESS.” I think it’s really great how we could review are essays with just these acronyms. In today’s lesson, we also learned how important adding feelings to our essays are. In order to have our reader’s really follow through, it’s always good to add some emphasis to what we write.

  8. A narrative essay is an essay that tells a story. I've read up on my fellow classmates' ideas and they all agreed on traveling. I decided I wanted to do the same thing. My topic will be about my summer trip to Taiwan. I was a tourist in Taiwan considering my Chamorro roots and dark brown skin. Everyone looked at me differently. I would love to share my take on how things are over there compared to here. The culture shock I went through was overwhelming at times but it created a great experience.

Last class was hilarious. My favorite part was when we had to say out a part in a certain tone. People that seemed so shy ended up coming out of their shells. It was a really fun class.

    1. First, I would be interested in your trip to Taiwan. Second, not only does a narrative tell a story but also has a purpose for story. Lastly, am I the shy guy you're talking about?

  9. A narrative essay is basically telling a personal story in a way that would incite emotion in the audience. There is emphasis in purpose, point of view, and concise language. These are all skills and points that we touched upon during our session on the revising and editing stage of the writing process.

As for my essay topic, I'll go with a memorable wedding, my cousin's wedding in the Philippines. I want to write about it because this was the first time I have been at a wedding, and that there is a sense of uniqueness that accompanied this cultural celebration.
Our lesson covered the steps of writing a draft and the recursive process of revising and editing. When writing out a draft, you generally take ideas that are organized in an outline, or list, or chart that was produced in the brainstorming stage. Then there is need of revising to refine your idea and make it clearer. Keep in mind of CLUESS when revising: coherence, language, unity, emphasis, support, sentences. When editing keep in mind of CGPS: capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

  10. Narrative essays are probably my favorite form of essay writing. It is in simple terms the true way to express a personal experience and share your feelings about a subject in how you lived the experience.

My essay topic would have to be a moment that changed my life simply because new experiences are always to learn from and in my opinion one specific experience in my life had changed me as a individual from the core.

  11. Narrative essays are fun, they get to read your essay from your point of view.

If I were to choose a topic for my essay, I would write about the time I fell off of my friend's car. It was an experience I will never forget since it was funny, filled with worry, and a bit scary.

  12. Narrative essays is the process of telling stories or describing what happens. It is like words that are heard as part of tv shows and movies, describing what is happening and being seen. Narrative essays are detailed and written in ways where multiple emotions can be felt by the audience when making a connection to what they are reading. These type of essays are very helpful in voicing out people's perspectives in the story.

  13. Similar to writing descriptive essays, narrative writing should include concrete and concise language with sensory details to aid readers in visualizing the author's point. Narrative essays more often are written from the author's point of view, depicting a memory which the author found sentimental and unforgettable, but it is not only limited to that; sometimes authors become creative by writing from another defined point of view, "authorial perspective." Written through personal experiences, narrative essays have a way of moving readers' hearts.

From the list, I chose the breakup of a friendship since it has happened to most of us. Although it's not considered as a breakup, but more of growing apart with a friend that I considered very close and like a family. I think it's a topic that is
    easily relatable.
