  1. I find that I will write run on sentences. I will read what I have written out loud and that will help me recognize run on sentences. In addition I enjoyed hearing about my classmates views on their topics.

    6. The essay was hard, for I had a little trouble putting the facts in the right order. I had to make sure my paragraphs make sense and persuade the reader.

    7. Reading it aloud does really make all the difference, thanks!

  2. Visiting the URL was a good opportunity to review what run-on sentences are. We should avoid run-on sentences because it is hard for readers to read and understand what it is written about. I tend to write run-on sentences sometimes, especially when I translate my thoughts from Japanese to English. But, I sometimes make it too short as a sentence too.

    1. I tend to also write run-on sentences. I try not to get let it be a habit. When i read my essays, i always catch them. Then i notice where i keep writing run-on sentences then i just fix them.

    2. Reading run-on sentences are confusing. Also reading short sentences is not enough information.

    3. I must be harder for you to think in another language and then translate it into another. The work that you have done so far is great and I hope that all of us keep improving.

    4. I agree with bethany. It really must be harder translating your thoughts into another language. I give you props for that!

    5. addition: I got my PEA back. It is great to know good things about me. Thank you for giving me positive words.

    6. I already knew what run-on sentences were, but the URL gave me more knowledge of it. Knowing more than one language is cool. Sometimes I write run-on sentences without knowing it.

    7. It was a good opportunity for me, too. Every time I write something, I try to avoid run-on sentence.

      Delete
    8. It must be hard, but you're doing great with speaking out loud to the class!

  3. We should avoid run-on sentences because if several sentences are combined in one sentence, it would be hard to read and understand the meaning of the sentences. Concise sentences are easier to read and understand than long sentences. 4th exam was the hardest one among the four major essays. It took really long time to write an essay because I was required to do research for my topic. I was not sure about how to write Work Cited. I hope I did not do wrong anything on it.

    3. I think that the 4th exam was pretty easy. Though i did have to research the pros and cons towards same sex marriage. i learned a lot while reading about them.

    4. I agree to avoid run-on sentences. For this last essay it was a bit harder for us to do because it is not based on experience, but on factual information.

  4. Run- on sentences are hard for me to avoid, because I talk like that in person. I haven't realized it when I speak, but when I write it is very noticeable. Today's activity was fun. To hear other peoples topic was interesting.

    1. I can also use these positive thoughts on my days that are not going my way. And you should not feel discouraged, but happy because you chose to actually go to college. It is better to finish college late than never.

      Delete
    2. The positive reinforcements from our peers is really encouraging and you should not feel discouraged. Its not about how long your journey is but that you have achieved it. You got this!

      Delete
    3. Don't feel discouraged about how late you are to finish college. At least you made the decision to stick through it. It will be worth it in the end :)

      Delete
    4. I also stated late unfortunately, but never late than never right.

  6. Run on sentences are not a good habit to do, when you are writing an essay. It helps you not sound like you are talking without a pause. A lot of us talk with run on sentences, but we try not to. It is a good habit to not write run on sentences, when writing an essay. So try to avoid them. Today’s activity was okay, hearing about other classmate’s topic. I enjoyed writing this essay, because I got to read about what people thought about same sex marriage.

    5. A short sentences will kind of make it feel like if it is a summary in a way, but I am already fine with it anyway.

  7. I found that URL useful and I agree that proper punctuation can help understand the sentences better. It was interesting listening to my classmates and their topics. And I also enjoyed the PEA activity. It was nice knowing that my english classmates had positive thoughts towards me.

  8. I have a bad habit on writing run on sentences, it is just common and seems like talking. Sometimes I forget to go back and fix it. The PEA activity was interesting and it was peculiar to see what my peers think of me. For today, listening to everyones topic was interesting and this paper was fun to do and do research on.

  10. I used to have problems with run on sentences but the high school I went to focused on it a lot. Run on sentences used to be really complicated to get at first but as I continued to work on it the easier it got. I really liked hearing the different topics everyone picked.

  12. Avoiding run on sentences is very important. Often times, it can confuse the reader. I am at fault for writing run on sentences. That is why it is also important to review your paper before turn in. Today’s class was interesting, as each individual presented their essay topic.

    1. We also conducted a PEA card activity yesterday. Someone wrote down " looks like a lion/wolf!” on my card. I am not going to lie, but I seriously laughed in my head when I saw that. Overall, the activity was interesting.

  13. We should avoid using run on sentences because while writing an essay it will be pointed out that it is a run on sentence. I have a hard time with avoiding run on sentences and my blog now probably will have a run on sentence. When we speak in person we don't really catch the run on, but typing or writing can easily be spotted. I thought the PEA card was very nice and awesome because it feels good to be complimented :) I thought the topics that were discussed today were great and interesting.

  14. When using run on sentences, there is no pause and it makes it harder to even say the sentence. We talk with run on sentences, but most of us don't when writing our essays which is a good thing.
Argumentative essay was the hardest for me because it's not like I'm talking about personal experience which is much easier. It's more of researching and summarizing. The PEA activity was surprising because I didn't think I had all those qualities. Overall, today's activity was great.

This PEA was interesting though because apparently I'm also punctual, informed and focused. I should major in Criminal Justice or a career that involves those talents.

  19. We avoid run on sentences because it's what we have been learning since elementary. Also, if you have a run on sentence, it would not make sense. You would want a pause in a run on not only to breathe, but for the sentence to make sense.
The argumentative essay was difficult for me because I forgot how to cite my sources.
It was also difficult for me to declare my side on the essay because I see pros and cons for both sides.
The PEA was a good activity. It shows us traits we may not believe or may not see on ourselves.

  20. Avoiding run on sentence will help prevent misunderstanding the idea. Without the comma, then what is combined or separated. The PEA was actually fun, but Sinagang is not a real comment. Today's activity was good, I chose to do the in-class test, so I guess I was prepared. The argumentative essay was my toughest essay I had to write.

  21. The URL was actually refreshing. I do still forget to punctuations and can have just one sentence be a whole paragraph, especially when i'm in "the zone". The PEA was pretty funny and enlightening. Sometimes college can be extremely stressful, so reading positive feed-back was very uplifting.
